MIDLIFE is when your darkness comes knocking.
It strips away the shiny facade, revealing what's been hidden or ignored. This is mother nature's ruthless and generous alchemical process inviting you to take the path that is true and kind to you. The one that lights you up...so that finally you can embody who you are at your core.

ABOUT MY WORK

Ipseity, pronounced ip-see-uh-tee — is a Latin word meaning the core essence of who we are; our innermost self, unborrowed and unmasked. Midlife calls us back to that self.

After decades of becoming who others needed us to be, the capable one, the caregiver, the professional, the good girl, something shifts. Carl Jung called this enantiodromia, the moment when what we’ve suppressed for too long turns and demands to be heard. It arrives as restlessness, feeling lost, or an insistent sense that the life you’ve built no longer fits. It feels like life is falling apart but in fact it is an invitation to return to who we have always been, to the immoveable part of us, our core.

WHAT SHAPES MY APPROACH

The hormonal and cellular shifts of midlife have a way of surfacing everything we’ve been holding down, the bone deep exhaustion, grief of unlived lives and those parts of us behind the shiny facade. The structures we built around our old identity begin to crumble and we find ourselves on shaky ground. I know this because it happened to me. Midlife brought me literally to my knees... arthritis, autoimmune conditions, untreated neurodivergence, single motherhood, self-employment, commuting globally and misdiagnoses and gaslighting from the medical profession. I joined all the paywall communities, listened to the gurus and became a pro at life hacks, not much changed. What made the difference was deepening my understanding of my own neurobiology, committing to a daily embodied practice and embracing the true darkness within. My lived experience has shaped my approach. I offer women who feel lost at midlife a space to breathe and to find their way back home.

Sally Bonnie

Director of Inspiring Futures Partnership & Inspiring Women.

Marie has this wonderful gift of making you feel you can do anything. Marie has been my yoga meditation teacher for over five years and her mantra “Sally you can do hard things” stays with me. I also commissioned some project work with Marie for various women's groups around Manchester. Her style and approach was just perfect. Our members loved learning new things to help with their wellbeing and applying them in their day-to-day routines. Marie has such an in-depth knowledgeable and a caring approach, it's evident that she wants women to thrive. She also has a wickedly light-hearted spirit that is so much needed in our world.
